Description

Stone Ridge is seeking a Director of Facilities to begin July 1, 2022 or sooner. 

Stone Ridge School of the Sacred Heart, a member of the international Network of Sacred Heart Schools, is a Catholic, independent college preparatory school for girls, Grades 1-12, with a co-educational Early Childhood Program, Pre-Kindergarten, and Kindergarten. With over 700 students and rooted in the Goals of Sacred Heart education, Stone Ridge inspires young women to lead and serve, through lives of purpose that integrate faith, intellect, community, social action, and personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

The Director of Facilities reports to the Director of Finance & Operations and oversees all aspects of maintenance, improvements, and housekeeping for Stone Ridge’s 35 acre campus, including 250,000 square feet of academic buildings, three gymnasiums, a natatorium, artificial and natural turf fields, and numerous auxiliary buildings, and multiple rental properties adjacent to campus. 

The Director of Facilities supervises and directs the Facility Manager, Administrative Assistant, Bus Driver(s), Maintenance staff, Housekeeping Supervisor, and Housekeeping staff; develops and maintains the Maintenance and Operations Department operating and capital budgets; and plans for the School’s preventative and long-term maintenance. The Director of Facilities manages the school’s work order system, maintains a working knowledge of the physical conditions of all campus facilities, and serves as Sustainability Coordinator for the School. This position serves on the School’s Master Plan Committee and plays an integral role in planning for and implementing campus construction projects. The Director of Facilities is a member of the School’s management leadership team and is on call 24/7 for emergencies, in coordination with the Facility Manager who is housed on-campus.

Other job responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing contractors providing daily dining services, school bus routes, campus security, and certain maintenance functions (such as HVAC, electrical, and landscaping); 
  • Working with the Director of Events to coordinate frequent special event set-ups;
  • Purchasing housekeeping and maintenance equipment and supplies;
  • Overseeing utility services (gas, electric, water & sewer, and telephone);
  • Overseeing regulatory compliance in environmental, asbestos, health, and other standards;
  • Developing RFPs for contract work; obtaining competitive bids; preparing agreements;
  • Maintaining records, plans, permits, warranties, operating manuals, etc. for buildings, equipment, and grounds;
  • Overseeing a daily bus transportation program, including both contracted-bus services and the use of School-owned vehicles
  • Supporting  the Director of Safety & Security by maintaining the campus PA system, radios for emergency communication and assisting with emergency drills.
  • Managing the campus wide access control system.

The ideal candidate:

  • possesses a bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a relevant field.
  • has at least five years of experience in a supervisory role in facilities or property management.
  • has demonstrated leadership experience, including experience with planning major capital projects and developing long-range facilities plans.
  • is able to perform all duties of the job, including physical demands such as: walking or standing for extended periods; climbing stairs and lifting up to 20lbs. of equipment; hearing voices, alarms, bells, and horns; driving an automobile; and using standard office equipment and software.
  • possesses knowledge of federal, state, and local laws that pertain to facilities administration.
  • is able to communicate clearly to a team, both verbally and in writing, in English; ability to communicate in Spanish is preferred but not required. 
  • is a team player and leader, demonstrates ethical and professional behavior in all interactions and situations with school constituents, including students, families, faculty, staff, administrators, and contractors.
