Position Overview
St. Timothy’s School is a community dedicated to the intellectual, emotional, and physical well-being of every student. We are seeking a compassionate, organized, and student-centered Registered Nurse to serve as the Director of the Health Center and lead the daily health and wellness operations of the school. The Director of the Health Center oversees all student health services and promotes a safe, healthy, and supportive campus environment. The nurse provides direct clinical care, coordinates ongoing health management, communicates with families and providers, and collaborates closely with faculty, administrators, athletic staff, and mental health professionals.

Key Responsibilities
Manage and oversee the daily operation of the school Health Center
Provide direct nursing care, assessment, triage, and case management for students
Evaluate and monitor acute illnesses, injuries, and chronic medical conditions
Respond appropriately to medical emergencies and coordinate referrals to Emergency Medical Services and local hospitals when needed
Administer and document medications in accordance with school policies and state regulations
Maintain accurate and confidential student health records
Ensure all required student medical documentation is complete and current, including:
Physical examinations
Immunization records
Insurance information
Consent forms
Medication authorization forms
Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns and follow-up care
Collaborate with local healthcare providers and consulting pediatricians to support student wellness and continuity of care
Partner with the school’s athletic trainer regarding student-athlete injuries, recovery, and participation clearance
Work collaboratively with school counselors and mental health personnel to support students’ emotional and social well-being
Coordinate medical, dental, vision, and specialty appointments for boarding students
Prepare necessary paperwork and facilitate communication with providers and families
Coordinate transportation to and from appointments using school vehicles when necessary
Accompany students to urgent care or hospital visits when necessary and remain with students until appropriate discharge arrangements are made
Maintain inventory and procurement of medications, medical equipment, and health supplies
Carry and respond to the school’s nurse consultation phone in coordination with boarding and administrative staff (only used in emergency scenarios).
Conduct CPR, First Aid, and health-related training for faculty and staff

Requirements
Qualifications
Active Maryland Registered Nurse (RN) license required
Experience in pediatrics, adolescent health, school nursing, emergency care, or community health preferred
Strong clinical judgment and assessment skills
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism in sensitive situations
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-oriented school community
